A photo from IMFL (congrats to all you legitimate finishers, BTW!) this past weekend. Wow… just… wow.

Ze Frenchman… he has ze bad day, non?
They let him do the whole race and then… DQ!
BigUn has a picture of the jetski patrol catching this guy before he took off but apparently he put the flippers on and did the race anyhow.
Mind boggling.
The only thing I can think of is that he really didn’t know and when jetski guy tried to stop him he didn’t understand. I know it’s a stretch but he was so blatent about it – it wasn’t like he was trying to be sneaky and cheat. Weird.

ps – if he went 1:18 in fins you have to wonder how weak a swimmer he was.

I’m hearing conflicting reports that it might not be that Philippe Roudiere guy? First it seemed that everything was pointing to him, but now I’m not so sure.
Whomever it is… I can’t believe he had the audacity to bring freaking flippers to the event! At least he got caught.

Not sure who the actual cheater was, but it’s truly sad if that’s what Ironman has come too..sigh.

I think the culprit is rumored to be a “Frank Cardia” now. I’m quite certain it’s not “Philippe Roudiere” as was formerly suspected. But I’ll correct that too if that’s shown not to be the case.

Indeed. It’s been pretty much verified that the culprit is, in fact, “Frank Cardia”. He’s been labeled as “DQ” from IMFL. Several folks have looked up his name and tied his pictures from IMFL to other races that he’s done. He’s been given a one year ban from NA Sports and his name has been pulled from the participants list for IMAZ.
That’s about as official as I think it’s going to get. Shame on you Frank. Shame, shame, shame.
