The Past Month

I’ve been:

  • Watching new episodes of Prison Break, Heroes, Lost, The Office, and ER
  • Building a new computer (to replace my 4 year old one)
  • Eating lots (although I’m still only up around 10 pounds)
  • Working out very little
  • Finally putting my bike back together with Ergomo installed!
  • Saving the World… of Warcraft
  • Mentally recharging my batteries to hopefully hit it hard at the New Year

I’ve pretty much given up workout-wise for remainder of the year. I’ve got a vacation planned in the next few weeks. And there’s the Holidays right around the corner which will be certain to destroy any good eating habits of any kind. Yep, I think it’s just better to prepare for a restart in 2007. I think if I manage to start in January next year, it has to be better than starting in July like I did this year, no? :)

My good friends just had their first baby this past weekend. She was a chunker at 9 pounds 7 oz! But she’s very healthy and mom, dad, and baby are all doing well!

I seem to know a lot of people right now that either just recently have had a baby or that are expecting very soon now. I’m not sure what to make of that. O_o

Lastly, a BIG congrats to all you IMFL IRON athletes! I tracked most of you throughout the day (except for folks who’s last name or number I didn’t know). Enjoy the recovery weeks to come and welcome to the off-season! :)

  1. Careful, Chivalry. There is something in the water that affects people your age. It won’t be long until you hear the patter of little feat.

Next, it boggles my mind how you go into hibernation every year and than toss off IMWI finishes like so many 5ks. If I did not like you so much, I’d have to hate that about you.

  5. Isn’t the off-season nice. I’m enjoying mine even though it started only a week ago!

And you better watch yourself during the holidays if you aren’t working out at all. The pounds will add up quickly!

But knowing you you can drop them pretty quickly too.

  6. I’m wondering if you’d have as successful of IMs if you didn’t take the winters off.

I agree with the baby invasion as of late. I was at a wedding last weekend and there were no less than six other new babies. THen, standing in line at the polls yesterday, another six babies near the age of my son.

I guess the Dec-Jan time in Minnesota is just so dark and cold and well, there’s nothing better to do :)

You’re next. ( Kind of like a game of tag)

  7. You have to try the Age of Empires series if you like the World of Warcraft stuff.

It’s good to rest up and get chunky during the holidays.

Just wondering why you chose Ergomo instead of PowerTap powermeter?

  8. baby…blah blah blah…eating…blah blah blah…

DID YOU SAY YOU ARE GETTING ERGOMO??? Oh man, now I am really jealous. You must post pics and details of the rebuild. I am VERY interested.

  9. RBR: I went Ergomo mostly because I wanted a power meter that didn’t lock me into using a rear wheel. If I went the PT route, I would have had to use a wheel cover if I wanted something more aero than a training wheel. Or to have bought a race wheel with PT that I just trained on? The Ergomo seemed to be a little more versatile and have some more options to boot.

Flatman: Indeed. It’s all setup and installed. If only it weren’t 42 degrees right now. :( I am planning to do a write up of my whole Ergomo experience (customer service [or lack there of], included). I just haven’t had a whole lot of good weather lately to do a lot of riding. It’s saddens me that I’ll have to do most of its breaking in on the trainer. :(

  10. So how fares the World…. of Warcraft? ; )
(I don’t even play WoW and that South Park had me laughing til I cried.)

  11. Chris!

I am so looking forward to training with you this summer. Assuming you’ll put up with me asking a million 1st timer questions. Wildflower 07? Tri geek dreams is putting together a big blogger convention out there. Talk soon.

  12. Now THAT’S a cute little baby! :) I’ve just caught up on Lost, and now I have to wait until February….grrrr! Enjoy your time off. The season will be here before ya know it!

  13. First off, very cute baby.

Second off, I finally have seen every single episode of Lost, and I religiously tape it every Wed or rush home from the pool after my masters workout to see it, and they’re stopping until February to try out some crappy “Groundhog’s Day” mimic series? Give me a break! I’m so pissed I could blow up the producer’s office. Anyway, I’m totally not even going to watch 1 episode of the stupid show (Daybreak)–ever. Why couldn’t some other crap show take the fall? Okay, just had to vent a bit. I need my Lost fix!

The Office is very good though.

  17. Big baby and adorable. I’m onto granbabies myself. They’re more fun, spoil em and give em back to mom & dad.

As for IMFL, it was cool to watch in person and dream of someday being one of them.
