Enough

It begins. With the start of a new year and along with probably millions of other people, I’ve decided that it’s time to get myself back into shape. Unlike most of those people, I’m not stopping until I reach my goal.

I am pathetically out of shape. I just got back from a two mile “trot” with a per mile pace a good minute and a half slower and more than 20 beats higher than what I’m used to. Two miles folks! And to think I did an Ironman just four months ago. The memories may last forever, but the body sure forgets quickly!

To those of you who have kept their training consistent, I commend and applaud you. I really do! I wish I had the dedication (and lack of injuries) to train year round. Keep up the good work because I (or someone like me) am coming for you and seeking to move you down a place in the rankings. ;)

For those of you like me who sat around, put on some weight, who are eating poorly and haven’t been able to pry yourself from your couch, you’ve got no where to go but up. The path “up” isn’t easy. A lot of the time, it’s going to be downright hard and miserable. But I can tell you from having been there, the view from the top is grand and something worth seeing.

Who’s coming with me?

  9. “The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. [Your] fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward.”
    Amelia Earhart said that…
You will now always be an ironman in your heart and soul the body just has to play catch up for a little while, don’t panic - it will catch up…
    I said that.

[...] I’d like to report that these posts by Iron Wil, Chris, and Joseph got me all fired up for training, but I’d be lying. [...]
