Here But Gone Again

Worry not! I’m still alive although my lack of posting would indicate otherwise (by the way, thanks to all you folks who took the time to write to me and ask if things were OK). I’m actually in fairly good spirits. My ITB still isn’t healed, but with no races for many, many months, I’m not sweating it too much (I was plagued with the same thing last off-season – it healed up sometime in the Spring finally). I’ve just been relaxing and enjoying the downtime off the off-season. It’s truly amazing how much free time you gain by not having to train day after day after day.

As weird as it may sound, I’ve been indulging living the anti-athlete lifestyle for the past couple of weeks and doing the opposite of what I normally do during training. I sleep in, I eat a lot, I sit in front of the TV or play various time wasting games on-line. It’s quite odd that I go from one extreme to another, I know. But I feel it’s a necessary time for me and helps me recharge. I’m actually fairly introverted for those that don’t know me and I think I need this “hermit” time every once in a while.

So I’m sorry for not posting and I’m even more sorry that I haven’t been following all your blogs as closely as I should. I should “be back” soon. Soon being at least another couple of weeks. I’m leaving on vacation in a couple of days and won’t be returning until mid-October sometime. I don’t think I’ll have Internet access for most of the time while I’m gone (it depends how many Internet cafes I can stumble upon), but I promise to check in with you all when I return.

Until then… ciao! :)

  3. nothing wrong with extremes…
Sitting around for a while after an Ironman? I’m sure your body needs it!

Enjoy your vacation! I also leave in a couple days to return mid-October, can’t wait for over a week not concerning myself with what is healthy. Hope you indulge a little as well!

  12. I have been doing that for a few days after my marathon. It felt great. Recharge is definitely good. I am just taking a break until my next training session. By then, my mind will be roaring to go.
