Just An Update

I’m still alive… just haven’t been feeling very posty lately for whatever reason. I was out of town late last weekend for my fianceé’s sister’s wedding (try and say that three times quickly!). The wedding was beautiful and a good time was had by all. The happy couple is vacationing now someplace in Santa Barbara.

All last week, I pretty much ate crappy. But yesterday and today have been good eating days and despite me epic eating last week, my weight hasn’t really budged, so I guess that’s good? I’m going to try and eat clean again though. Only a few weeks left until the big event.

Our company hasn’t gone on strike yet, but they haven’t come to an agreement yet either. For now, the union folks are just working without a contract. The latest word is that they’re close and that progress is being made, but I won’t feel entirely relaxed until a new contract is signed. I’m hoping that all gets squared away real soon now.

I got a good long run in while I was in Chicago for the wedding. Folks over in the western ‘burbs have a really nice thing going with that Illinois Prairie Path. I got a nice long 15 mile run done in just under 2:10 on some beautiful trails. Hopefully I’ll be able to run at least half of this thing in a few weeks.

It’s an easy week for me this week. Next week will be relatively hard, and then it’s all downhill from there.

That’s all.

  1. You definitely don’t sound like your normal, happy self. Are you getting sick, or maybe a little nervous about things to come?

If it’s nerves, yeah, it’s all coming up pretty quickly, but you’ve been here before, and this time you’re quite a bit better trained.

Or maybe the stress of your company’s strike/no strike mess is getting to you???

Nervous about getting married, yourself, after the future sister-in-law’s wedding?

Whatever it is, if you can’t fix it right now, there’s no sense in letting it bother you - easier said than done, I know. Try to download this week while you can, and then get ready for taper :)

Maybe I’m totally off, you just sound blah - I hope you get to feeling better soon.

  2. Hey, glad you’re back! I missed your cheerful comments at 2/3 The Venture. Hoping things will settle down for you with this whole strike thing - sounds like it’ll be a load off once it’s taken care of. What will be will be so no use losing sleep over it until it (whatever IT is) happens. Hang in there and keep up the long runs - nothing like a good run to clear your head! :)

  3. Nice to have you back and I’m keeping my fingers crossed regarding the strike. It’s hard when things like that are utterly out of your control yet affect you so closely.

Good news is that I’m going to be in Madison the weekend of Ironman! I can’t wait to cheer you on.

  5. Yeah, I think it’s pretty much been the strike hanging over my head. But it appears that it’s not going to happen. Already, it feels like a HUGE burden has been lifted off my shoulders.

The race isn’t scaring me (yet). :)
