I think that feeling must be going around. Take the recovery week and unwind. Chances are, if you're feeling it, it's the right thing to do. Even if you don't think your body needs it - your mind does ;)

hang in there! a rest week will help you recharge, for sure. Take a nap, put your feet up and reflect. I sure hope that the union at your work doesn't take the plunge...

i agree, elope and have a party later.

If you feel like your against the wall, then you are. Your smart to take the recovery week. I call it instinctive training. There are just days or weeks when you need to chuck the plan and do whats best for you.

Hang in there and take the time you need. I totally concur with you -- I wonder how people with children and jobs do it. We've been having our own struggles here with the time my training takes --- and I'm not training for nearly as long a race as you are.

Listen to your body. Listen to your intiution. Sometimes real life needs to be front and center.

Chris I feel for you mate, I really do.
If it helps it seems that sometimes all of us feel this way...I'm two seconds away from posting on my own site about how I've been really bad this week with training.
I think wel all know the answer to our problems tho and sometimes we just need reassurance that this is the right one - step back for a week. Do just what you said - life's too short to get all wound up.

I had similar issues with work, etc. I took a long weekend and went to the beach. Absolutely re-charged my batteries. I highly recommend it especially if you maynot get a chance to use your vacation like flatman was saying.

Hey Chris,

You had better take some time while you can. You can bet the "higher-ups" won't be allowing any vacation time if that strike happens. I say take the rest of the week off and don't train for a few days. Take a couple of walks in the park. Go swimming, but take a niece or nephew, so it forces you to play and not train. Go for a bike ride with your fiance, but don't wear your bike shorts or jersey. Wear normal clothes and cruise at about 8 mph... I know it is hard to do this stuff, but these things are supposed to be FUN! Think back to when we were kids riding our bikes. There was no "training", only riding! Check your e-mail, I am sending you something...
