Gmaps Pedometer

The cool link of the day award goes to Phil for finding the Gmaps Pedometer.

What is this?
This is a little hack that uses Google’s superb mapping application to help record distances traveled during a running or walking workout.

Works fine for cycling too. Below is the map of my normal out and back long ride. The mileage was pretty much spot on. What’ll they think of next?

  2. Wow, thanks for the great link. You have a great site, and the story of your transformation is definitely an inspiration. You said something about always leaving a little bit in the tank for the next day and that hit home for me as I tend to over do it once and awhile. Well, I don’t usually know that I went too far until the next day….

  8. Com: Hopefully, your bike computer was off in the “good” direction. Meaning you have miles and miles and miles logged that you didn’t even know about! :) Email coming… Those darn Internet spiders make me never want to post my email address anyplace. As much as they’d beg to differ, I don’t need Viagara (yet)! ;)

  9. Cook link of the day! Wow, I’m so honoured, I’ve never won anything before. I’d like to thank my mom and dad, and wife and kids, my agent….

Actually, I got the link from someone else, who got it from Dead Runners Society.

But, yes - it is very cool.
