Why Am I Here?

The temperature is a balmy 35 degrees right now and according to the meteorologists, it’s going to snow tomorrow. I’ve been living in this state now for six years. I’ve been dealing with winter now for the past 12 years. I would have thought I would have wised up and moved back to California by now.

Ironman Florida has come and gone and has already sold out for 2005. The race filled in nine hours! Unbelievable. I’m leaning towards doing Ironman Canada next year (via a charity spot), but none of my local friends would be doing the race with me. I just don’t think it would be as fun without your friends there to do the race with you and to be training with them for the same event. Hmmm. I guess I still have some time to think about it.

  1. I would trade states with you any day.

  2. I hear it’s beautiful up in British Columbia and from the pictures on that website, I heard correctly! Regardless of what you choose to do, good luck. :) Just remember you’re already an Ironman and have nothing more to prove to the non-Ironman ilk.

  3. carrie: I’d take Florida, hurricanes and all, anyday over Minnesota!

Jay: Thanks. I guess I don’t feel like I have anything to prove as much as I really enjoy a big goal to work towards. I guess that’s the downpoint in doing an Ironman my first year out. I just feel like working towards doing something less wouldn’t be as rewarding. If that makes sense?

  4. I’m still shocked at how you managed such an incredible body transformation. Perhaps you should change “My Journey - From Couch Potato to 1/2 IM Finisher” from “1/2 IM Finisher” to just “Ironman”. :)
