I Need A Pause Button

Ugh. So many things to do before the weekend and so little time to do them. I generally hate doing errands and this week is just full of them. I’ve decided to burn up some of my vacation time this week to help alleviate stress.

My family gets into town tomorrow which means that I should probably clean up my place tonight. I cleaned up a little bit a few weeks ago so it’s not too bad. I still have to make sure it’s relatively kid proof (for my 2+ year old niece) and that there are clean sheets everywhere, etc. I need to squeeze in another short workout tonight which shouldn’t be too bad. I also have a pre-race massage scheduled for this afternoon so I’m trying to get a bunch of stuff before then so I can just relax for the rest of the evening after that.

My workout on Monday actually has me feeling a little sore. It had me do some strides and threshold running, none of which I’m used to doing during my normal training. I know that I still have plenty of time before the race, but it’s just not nice feeling this way only a few days out. Hopefully the massage this afternoon will help some.

I’m actually feeling less stressed out about the race now than I was about a week ago. Maybe it’s just the calm before the storm?

  1. As Mark Allen wrote me in an email to my peak race, “Let your fitness carry you.” You’ve done the training-now just enjoy the experience! Your mind and body will be insync.

  2. That’s a great saying. I’ll try and pull that one out and use it when I hit one of those really dark patches. Hopefully my arsenal of mental strength is big enough for what’s at hand!
