"Stick to your training zones and â€œlightâ€ RPE during base training. I get the feeling that people that just start out having too much motivation and think â€œmore is betterâ€ and â€œfaster is betterâ€. All youâ€™re going to do with that attitude is burn yourself out quickly. The goal is consistency. You should leave every workout feeling like you could have done more. If youâ€™re out there killing yourself everyday, your motivation is going to drop quickly and youâ€™ll fall off the bandwagon. Consistency is key."

Hopefully the off season will be my time for fat loss - my first race is Sept 5th/04.  Nice job!!</description>

		<description>Chris, reading this entry was like looking into my reflection in the mirror. I was an accomplished competitive swimmer, became lazy and sedentary during college..was a smoker of two years..and just like you..was encouraged to try a sprint triathlon by a friend last May..did piss poor..felt dejected BUT motivated to return to the days of old..quit smoking immediately..trained all winter..ate well..came back a year later (this past May) smoke free and placed 2nd in my age group..followed by the Buffalo marathon two weeks later. I've been training for the past three months for a peak race in two weeks..tapering now..getting into ultra-marathons as well now and my gf and I will be going for IM Fl. next fall.

		<description>Heh.  I think I understand where you're coming from, but 1800 calories won't work for me.  An "average" training day for me has me burning close to 4000 calories a day.  If I only ate 1800, I wouldn't have the energy to get my workouts done.

I do watch what I eat fairly closely though and always try and maintain a calorie deficit if I'm trying to lose weight.  If you can consistently ensure that your calories burned exceeds your calories taken in, you'll make good progress.

		<description>Nice stuff man here.  Good luck with everything that you want to do.  The only thing that I might add is if your trying to lose weight cal intake should be less then 1800 not 2500.  I burn 2570 a day plus what ever I do in gym.  I got the 2570 from some mashine I got hucked up to at the gym.</description>
