Slow Going

IMMoo training has been slow going thus far. It’s not so much that I haven’t been able to get training time in - I’ve put about 5:30 hours in so far this week. It’s more that I’m either not recovered from GCT or I’m just feeling the pains of taking time off from training. Whatever the case, I had the most “difficult” run that I’ve had in a while yesterday. I couldn’t keep my HR down during my run despite running at a very slow pace and my legs started feeling fatigued on the way home which never happens to me on a six mile run. Hopefully things will all start clicking into place here in the next week or so. September 12th may seem like its pretty far out, but looking at it and seeing I only have maybe 9-10 weeks of good training left, that doesn’t seem like much time.

In other news, my family went back to California yesterday. It was great having them here to visit. One thing that does really suck about IM training is that it really inhibits your time to do much traveling and such. I probably won’t see my parents until September or after. I’m supposed to go out of town for Memorial Day weekend, but am already worried about how I’m going to get my training in during that time. Life is just going to have to revolve around my training schedule for a while.

On a good note, my 9 pounds in 12 days seems to not be as severe as I thought. A lot of it was apparently food bloat. I’m still up maybe five pounds or so from where I was a couple weeks ago during my GCT taper, but for taking two weeks off and eating as much as I did during that time (which was a lot!), I can’t be too upset with that.
