Pre-Race Jitters

My wave for GCT doesn’t go until 6:55 am and I’ve been wide awake since 3. I guess that’s not necessarily a bad thing, although I do wish I could have slept for a little longer. They say that your important night of rest really is the night before the night of the race so I hope “they” are right.

I’m pretty nervous on how this will all play out. I have found myself continually reminding myself that I’ve done all the work and that this is really the time that I’m supposed to enjoy. Still, I’ve never actually done a workout that lasted as long as the aerobic effort that I’m, body willing, going to be putting out here in a few hours. I’m trying not to dwell on the negative, but it sure has a funny way of creeping into your head even though you don’t want it there.

Tension is high… anticipation is great… The moment of truth is dawning.
