Thoughts on Memphis

I have a two hour layover in Memphis on my way down to Panama City Beach, and just thought I’d post some random thoughts:

People working at the airport all were uncannily polite. I’m not sure if all folks in the south are like this, but I have never been called “sir” so many times in my life as I have while I’ve been here. “Yes, sir… No problem, sir… Can I get you some more napkins, sir.” I actually don’t think there was one time that folks didn’t end their messages with sir while I was down there. Strange.

The Memphis airport has this Interstate barbeque place that was really tasty. It could have been that I hadn’t had ribs in so long and just didn’t know what I was missing. I think it was more than that though, as was apparant by the long line (in the airport nonetheless!) to get some takeout. Probably not the best food for my diet, but it was scrumptious!
